23:30 – I spent the day at Angus' place, helping him dig holes and landscape his front garden. We installed two wooden barriers that he is using to create a little bit of a hill out the front, which will then later house lots of Summer Daisies. I came back into the city afterwards and went to the studio and wanted to work a little more on a new song, but I had been listening to Strawberry Switchblade pretty heavily for the last few days. I also had some comments on social media from a Strawberry Switchblade fansite about our cover of Who Knows What Love Is, and I mentioned that I would definitely be doing another SS song. I've also been watching lots of YouTube videos on Strawberry Switchblade, and found so many interviews and video clips that I hadn't seen before. Trees and Flowers has always been one of my favourite songs of theirs, and I always wondered why it was never released as a single. Anyway, I found myself in front of the computer programming this song at nearly midnight, and then later laying down the vocals. Louise is coming on Wednesday for our weekly vocal session, and I had planned for her to do backing vocals, but I can't help[ but wonder what it would sound like with her on lead vocals. Time will tell.

05:36 – I'm printing V2 of the song now. V1 is very sparse with no drums. V2 has a bassline and LinnDrum pattern. All vocals are done. But this mix isn't the right one. The song will either be very rhythm heavy, or more of a floaty dream balled (like Twin Peaks).

20:16 – Just finished V3. I reproprammed the entire bassline, emulating the parts played by the bassist in the original track. I think I did a half decent job, because I played it to my manager and he asked me if Ian Burden played the bass on the track! I also used the kick and rimshot from a certain Thomas Dolby track (if you're a TD fan, you know which track I'm talking about). The track has come together now. I added some dreamy vibes to the verse and finished adding all the harmonies. This track was meant for Holiday '26 next year, but I think I might bump it up to Holiday '25.
