Parralox - 268 - Tabula Rasa now renamed Save My Soul
Friday 18th Cotber, 2024
0930 hours - Just got back from a walk in the park and also dropped into SVHA to sign some forms but Siobhan wasn't in today. I was supposed to pickup Sharyn and the boys, but there was an accident on the Upfield train line so Sharyn went back home. Jack and I then walked throgh Exhibition Gardens, and it was raining. What a glorious day! Jack and I were both very happy. Jack was even happier when he got home.
I put on PLEX and have The outer Limits playing in the background. I was going to work on a new Parralox song, but I was listening to Yello last night, specifically Tool In Rose, L'Hotel and Dr Van Steiner, and remembered that I needed to write a proper ambient track for Parralox. So I'm starting a new song. It's now 0932 and I will start on the song. I'm going to start with Cherry Atomica and HALION 7 and use my own samples from sounds I've collected in the studio and in the field.
0934 hours - Sharyn just messaged and said she will catch a train at 0955 and be at Parliament at 1012.
1928 hours - Just finished the chorus music. Now working on the lead vocals / melody.
2302 hours - I think I finished the song. Printing V1 now. I just realised I didn't end up with an ambient track at all LOL. Oh well, next time!
Monday 21st October, 2024
1618 hours - I renamed the song "Save My Soul" (from Tabula Rasa) as it fits the title of the chorus and Tabula Rasa is supposed to be an ambient track. I'm working on V2 and have now integrated the same LinnDrumm and Korg Poly 6 sounds from Here Comes The Feeling and Teardrop, so the album tracks have a more cohesive feel. The drum programs and basslines have all been reprogrammed from scratch. I also need to fix the PreChorus vocals.
2035 - I think I just finished the song (again). I rececorded a lot of the vocals and tidied up the arrangement. It's turned into another Phil Spector Monster. Am I capable of making a minimal track? Maybe one day.... Jack keeps looking at me from the couch, we were supposed to go walkies an hour ago but I had to finish the song. Not long now Jack, V2 is printing!!
2049 hours - All the versions have printed. I'm shutting down the session and then going for a walk and then dinner (aka breakfast!)
