Additional Info: Recorded for our cover of the classic Travelogue album, which The Human League originally released in 1979. Released on Compact Disc on conzoom Records. The Deluxe Edition includes 3 Limited Edition CDs. Tuesday the 28th July, 2020. 1552 hours. I finished of V4 of Boys and Girls at 1130 this morning. took Jack for a walk around the city and got back to the studio at 1430 hours. I noticed a bunch of missed calls and so I checked my email and it was SVHA. I called them up and spoke to the NUM. The Department of Health are looking for senior nursing staff to assist at one of the COVID Facilites, and the DON of SVHA said she would ask the staff at SVHA, hence the email. I accepted the offer, and so I'm going to work a stat night shift tonight starting at 2100 hours. They will pay for my taxi there and back, woo hoo! I'm on 2 months holiday from the Hospital and not due to go back to work there until mid-August, but I'm more than happy to help out, as I know how short staffed Victoria is for nurses at the moment. I'm really on a roll with these Travelogue songs, and don't want to lose the production momentum, but far this is only one shift that I have to pick up, so I'm happy to do that. Jack is sitting on my lap as I type this and he seems very happy. I started production on Only After Dark. As usual it begins with tempo mapping, arrangement and then chord deconstruction. I didn't realise how fast this song is (146 BPM). I'm not sure what direction to do in, but I'm sure I'll pull a rabbit out of the hat. Wednesday the 29th of July 2020. 2318 hours. I picked up an emernegcny shift at Epping Gardens last night. The DON of SVHA called and asked if I could work at the COVID impacted facility. I won't go into detail about what happened there, but it was a pleasure to care for the residents that were there. I had four hours sleep tpday. Went for a walk around the city to Flagstaff Gardens with Jack and we met quite a few lovely dogs, and Jack played nicely with them all. We met Sharyn at QV and then walked home. I had breakfast/dinner and then started working on production for this track and ended up with V1. I'm still not sure where to take this track. I will find the sweet spot surely. Thursday the 30th of July, 1530 hours. Started recording vocals for the track. I took the music style in a different direction, using The Sound The Of The Crowd as a guide, but I'm still not sure if it works. I voluntered to work at Epping Gardens, but it looks like they have all their staffing sorted out, which is great. Friday the 31st of July, 1938 hours. Continuing to record BVs for this at 1400 hours. Sharyn and I just took Jack and Roger for a walk around RMIT and have a coffee afterwards. I'm now at the the studio working on the track again. I was watching the HD AI Restored version of Deep Space Nine this afternoon and it's great. Still not as crisp as the proper remastered film scans, but its definitely better than the shitty DVDs and VHS copies I have. Can't wait for them to do Season 3. The Search 1+2 are amongst my favourites of DS9. I remember going to the New York premiere of "What We Left Behind" with Doug Giffin and we were both blown away by how amazing DS9 looked on the big screen. It really would be amazing if Paramount remastered them again properly. Surely there's a billionaire out there who likes DS9? Its now 2330 and I'm done recording the backing vocals. I've nearly finished with the lead vocals and it's amazing how many lyric websites have got the lyrics wrong. And I'm listening to the original version by Mick Ronson and cannot figure out the last line of the last verse. It's sounds like "Only you know/flow/go into me" but I'm not entirely sure. After wrestling with what to do I realised I should just sing the lyrics that Phil sang, as I really am doing a cover version of The Human League's version, and not the original version. If anyone know's what he's singing, please let me know. But I'm guessing you'd probably have to know, or have worked with, Mick Ronson, as there are NO official lyrics or sheet music for his version. |
