Additional Info: Day 5 Sunday 22/07/2018 - Matsumoto Sitting in Nakamachi Cafe in Matsumoto at 1020 hours. Mike, Nic and I are waiting for our breakfast to arrive. We ordered 3x Special Premium Local Apple Juices. 3x coffees. Nic had the Bitter Chocolate Soufflé Mike had the Bacon and Egg Pancake And I had the Cheese Hotdog. Nic took the cutlery from their little coffin box and we started talking about Bump Of Chicken and other crazy band names. And then Nic commented on Mike taking the forks from the box. Take the fork from the box (mike) 1018 Pick the lint from your socks (nic) 1019 Matsumoto Castle. With amazing gargoyle tour guide for over 2 hours. He was amazing and gave us a CD of him singing when we parted. Drank lovely apple cider afterwards in garden area. Walked to Yoikana Sake Brewery. Lovely lady (owner) served us sake, spring water, blackberries, blueberries, cucumbers, miso paste and chocolate. Plus cold compresses for the heat. Then drank spring water from front of shop. Then coffee and blueberry muffin and asked for restroom and the check in Japanese as amused staff acknowledging my clumsy Japanese. Mike had brown rice latte. Stopped at Matsumoto Brewery Tap and mike had a beer. We watched. Then walked to hotel for a 30 minute rest. I rang Michael (NYC) and spoke as we walked and found 2 paper shops (closed) and a sushi shop (closed). Had 10 mini Gyoza (delicious) and mike had bowl of ramen. Matsumoto Art Thief. Like a ninja in the twilight. In a deserted street there lies a lonely wall covered with bill posters that are old and fading. Thumbtacks flying with a duo of English watchmen. The hot poster is in my sweaty hands at 1926 hours. I finally have my Yuyoi Kasawa poster! We record the pew pew and Dee daw sounds of the intersections crossing signal. They sound amazing and plan to use them in a song Then went back to hotel for half an hour. Then decided to go on a final random walk to the other side of train station to see what’s there. Walked along the river and Mike couldn’t help himself and had to google one last craft beer brewery and when we got there it was closed. Owners inside taking photos. But Mike and Nic knocked on the door and after some discussion they agreed to let us in for "ONE DRINK ONLY". Turns out the Bar (Bacca) opened a few months ago. All 6 people inside friends forever and 2 of them lived in California for a while. They totally loved us! I made them laugh when they asked I they could take our picture and said “yes. For 100 Yen!” . Then I made a few more 100 yen jokes and they all loved it. We had our beer and left. Such warm and lovely people. Comment of the evening was from Nic as we left Bacca Brewery “it’s much cooler now though, isn’t it?” I asked Nic to stop using the C word and mentioned that 29 degrees at midnight does not qualify as “cool” haha! Back to hotel. I watched the Season 2 finale of Westworld and then asleep by 0100. |
