Parralox - Last Year At Marienbad

Last Year At Marienbad

Written by John von Ahlen

Chorus (The Woman)
Don't know if really love you
Don't know if I need to tell you
Maybe if we meet again I may remember
A love so tender

Verse 1 (Man X)
Darling it's so nice to see you
Tell me everything that's new
Can't believe a year has passed
It's almost like you never knew

Pre Chorus
I feel I should tell you
I cannot remember
Our feelings so tender
(It can't be true!)

You say that we're leaving
I'm hardly believing
The plans that we made for
(Our rendezvous!)

Verse 2 (Man M)
Don't know if I need to tell you
I'm not like the other man
No confidence or strategy
Playing with no masterplan

Repeat Pre Chorus

Repeat Chorus

Middle 8

Knowing how I feel
Feeling so unreal
Maybe I was wrong to tell you

Doing it for love
Baby it's so hard
Knowing that you don't remember

Maybe this is wrong
Knowing what you done
Baby I should stay away from you

Feeling how I feel
Trying to keep it real
Maybe it's the end of all we know

Monologue
I watched you play your cards
And wondered "Can you lose? Or will HE win?"
You like the fear in me, especially that evening
The bracelet is a sign of force
It kept the memory of you alive
Lost, forever, alone (with me)

Repeat Chorus
Repeat Middle 8

Additional Info:
Written at 1217 on Thursday August 18th 2016, in about an hour.
Just dropped off my Silver Costume to Rose Chong (didn't see Steve).
Spoke to Angus on the phone for an hour while on the tram there and back - tomorrow is the day for poor old Scottie. So sad.

I type this while Jack is sitting on my lap and Roger is naughtily sitting on the studios "no dogs allowed" red couch.
I'm going to Julie's at 1400 and have to be back here by 1900 for the recording session with Louise, who will be singing this song with me.

The song will be structured so that the chorus is written from the Woman's perspective, while the Verses will be First and Second Man's commentary.
I better stop typing these notes and start writing the song.
1348 song completed. It's off to Julie's I go :)

This song was previewed on The Notorious New Wave Show.
Special thanks to Gina Achord for your support!
