Tuesday 23rd April 2024 1511 hours - Steven arrived about 30 minutes ago. I'm working on V4 of this track. I just bought a new graphics card, which fixed the issues I had with the plugins in Cubase. Jack and Fritz are here. I went to Muay Thai at lunchtime, so I'm a bit sore. I fixed some of the tuning with Lillias vocals in the verse, so everything sits much nicer now. The Trouble with Harry is playing in the background and Steve is sorting out his pencils.
1724 hours - I just finished mix V4, and I think I'm happy with it. Rear Window is playing in the background.
Wednesday 24th April, 2024 0437 hours - I've been faffing around with the JD800 and JD990. My JD800 memory card is corrupted and I had tried my best to recreate the sounds in Roland Cloud Zenology JD800 VSTi but it wasn't close enough. By a sheer stroke of luck I found a sysex file of my original JD800 patches in a folder named, oddly enough, "Sysex" but it was in my Cubase Files folder which is why I never thought to look there. I had scoured my MIDI folder to no avail. So after hours of internet sleuthing, I found a utility that converts JD800 sysex to JD990 sysex, and I was thrilled, as it meant I could just use the JD990 instead of my JD800! And it gets better...that same utility also converts the JD800/JD990 sysex files into Zenology BIN files!! Which means you can now import sysex to Zenology - despite the dumbells at Roland saying that Zenology cannot import sysex.
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Roland Cloud\ZENOLOGY
So I ran a batch file (the conversion program runs via CLI in DOS) and it was like black magic. BOOM! An instant BIN file, which I imported into Zenology JD800 and lo and behold....my glorious JD800 patches have come back to life. I am so happy. So I am now onto V5 of the song, which brings it back to my original vision. Very happy...

Monday 29th April, 2024 1752 hours - Just came back from Rowville. Bought 2 new 27" 2K monitors to replace the 24" ones I've been using for the past few years. I originally had 2x 27" 2K but one of them broke years ago (which is when I replaced then with the 24" ones) and then COVID happened and I never got round to getting back to my original configuration. So I randomly checked Marketplace and saw these 2 monitors for $150 each, a bargain as they were originally $599 each! I was supposed to see Suzy tomorrow, but we changed it to today, and she kindly drove me to Rowville and then back into the city. So I finally plugged them in and it's glorious. I'm not used to having so much real estate space on my screen! It's like the good old times again. So I thought I would do the final mix of this song V6 as I wasn't happy with V5 and I wanted to change a few vocal bits and pieces. Jack is staring at me, waiting for his chicken. He is playing his usual game of not taking the food when I give it to him (we usually have to play this elaborate game where I pretend to take the food and he growls and then takes it. I think he likes the game) but I can't be fucked at the moment, so I have the chicken neck sitting on the bench and will wait for 10 minutes until he actually takes it. He took it. 1859 hours - Printing final V6 mixes. I think that's it. Time for some Spanakopita and Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett of course).
