We've just created a new page - Equipment! It includes a list of all the hardware synths, drum machines and outboard gear we use to make our music. It's not a full kit list, and we will be adding stuff as we go. It doesn't include VSTi / soft synths, otherwise it would be an insanely massive list!! You can see pretty photos of all the gear too, on the photos page.
AND....we've also created a video for the remix as well, which is hosted at the Official Parralox YouTube Channel. We will likely start to create more videos of the remixes we've done. More eye candy for you!
Real Experts is a London-based synthpop electronic project, headed by Andrew Maley. Their second LP ‘The Trade Off’, released in 2015, is loaded with catchy lyrics and infectious choruses. In following with a tradition this project has become known for, a beautiful rotating door of guest vocalists feature on this album. The first single is ‘Disco Tears’ featuring Daniel Angelus, the lead singer of Surrender Hearts, who has recently shared the stage with T’Pau, Katrina and The Waves, and Musical Youth. Angeuls also features on three other tracks. Other equally stunning tracks bring diversity offered by other talents. ‘My Love Is Nothing More Than This’ features 18-year-old Eden, who brings in some very London Grammar / Rihanna / Robyn / Adele / Lamb deep tones and stylings. Mike Burnett features on ‘She Hurts’ and Vivian Marie features on ‘Forever is a Big Word’ – both artists are now based overseas, in Australia and Germany respectively. Real Experts’ member Victoria Knowles’ vocals lace through ‘Sugar Rush’ and ‘Lemon is Lemon’, which also features renowned British sports journalist Patrick Barclay and is being offered as a bonus to ‘The Trade Off’ LP via Bandcamp. French/American singer Mimisinga (aka Mimi Corenthin) joins Daniel Angelus on ‘Space Age Love Song’, offering up sonic sounds reminiscent of Macy Gray and Tracy Chapman. When not dabbling in such synthpop, she shows her versatility as a vocalist by performing with the reggae band Dojo. The third studio album is due for release late 2016, featuring the singles Apart Is Still Enough, Laser Me To Heaven, and How About No. This will be preceded by the remix album project, REAL>MIX.
We've just recorded a new track for our forthcoming album "Subculture". The track is titled "Last Year At Marienbad" and features vocals by Louise Love. Artwork and lyrics are now online at the parralox.com website.
The track is a bit of a return to our synthpop form, and heavily utilises the LinnDrum and the same aresenal of synthsizers used on the seminal album "Dare!" by The Human League. Namely the Jupiter 4, Korg Delta, Yamaha CS15 plus some other classic vintage synths that are in abundance at Subterrane Recording Studio.
If you can't wait till November for the release of Subculture, then you're in luck! Gina Achord will be previewing the track tomorrow night on her show "The Notorious New Wave Show". Bear in mind that this mix may not be the one included on the album so it could be the only time you hear this version.
